I’m glad someone finally said it…

Gidon Kremer recently published this open letter in response to the Verbier Festival’s announcement that he had withdrawn from the Festival due to illness. German text with a rough English translation via Google below. I couldn’t agree with Kremer more, and I’m so glad that someone has finally said this publicly. Hopefully this harks the beginning of the end of the classical-performer-as-dancing-bear phenomenon that is the vast majority of what is offered these days?
